Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Business Continuity and Crisis Management is responsible for ensuring business resiliency before, during and after an incident. The position is accountable for crisis and incident management as well as contingency and pandemic planning. The incumbent ensures that CN is prepared to protect against and recover from any incident so the company can restore operations in a timely manner while ensuring the health and safety of employees and protecting and promoting CN's business and reputation.

Main Responsibilities
Program Development, Testing, and Execution

Oversees the business continuity, crisis management, contingency and pandemic preparedness programs

Lead the development, maintenance, and execution of a standardized corporate business continuity and crisis management framework and methodology including planning, training, awareness, and rollout

Collaborate with various response groups (e.g., Information and Technology (I&T), Operations, Police, Legal, Communications, etc.) to build cohesive plans for a unified response

Ensure that proper policies, standards, strategies, and resources, are in place for accuracy and readiness

Serve as the backup lead for crisis incident response

Coordinate all business continuity and crisis management work and testing

Prepare and lead exercises including mock-ups, tabletops for incident crisis management

Lead post incident exercise review, improvement plan development and implementation of recommendations

Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to Organizational Resilience (OR) governance and policies

Develop, maintain OR metrics to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

Develop and maintain the OR strategic roadmap, budgets, and timelines

Strategic Development

Work with the Corporate Security leadership members to develop programs that increase our strategic capabilities and encourage excellence

Grow CN's security mindset and build partnerships.

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. The role requires minimal travel (10%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.) to visit CN sites.

Requirements
Experience

Between 8 to 10 years of experience in Business Continuity and Crisis Management

o Experience dealing with senior executives

o Experience implementing and sustaining large-scale compliance programs

o Project management experience

o Experience implementing organizational policies, principles, and standards

o Railway experience

Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Business Continuity Institute (BCI), Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI), or International Organization of Standards (ISO) Certification

Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset
