Job Description:
Black River Logistics Ltd. is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Yard Safety Officer to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a Yard security guard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, visitors, and contractors within our yard premises.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular safety inspections of the yard to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
2. Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote a safe working environment.
3. Provide safety training to yard personnel, emphasizing best practices, proper equipment usage, and emergency response procedures.
4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
5. Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety initiatives aimed at reducing accidents and improving overall safety performance.
6. Monitor and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all yard personnel.
7. Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety updates, share relevant information, and address concerns raised by team members.
8. Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspections, training sessions, and incidents.
9. Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry best practices and ensure that the company remains in compliance.

Qualifications:
2. Certification in occupational health and safety or a relevant field is preferred.
3. In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate personnel at all levels.
5. Analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and address safety concerns.
6. Attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough safety inspections.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to generate reports.
8. Willingness to work flexible hours, if necessary, to address safety concerns or emergencies.
