Job Title: Logistics Manager

Location: Barrie, Ontario

Shift Time: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Terms: Permanent Full-Time

Job Scope:

To plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate departments responsible for the transportation and movement of goods, under the direction of the Executive Leadership team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management.
  • Monitor performance metrics for transportation, shipping and receiving.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on weekly and monthly logistics key performance indicators along with implementing process improvements wherever possible.
  • Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers.
  • Leading the full cycle of the onboarding process for new clients.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in request for proposal (RFP), and request for quote (RFQ) processes.
  • Work with the inventory planning personnel to minimize shortages and improve inventory holdings.
  • Aligns with senior leadership to develop a company's short and long-term goals, and then plans logistics strategically to enable the company to achieve those goals.
  • Preparing logistics operations for expected challenges (such as spikes in seasonal demand), and for building a resilient supply chain that is strong and stable enough to withstand unforeseen challenges.
  • Monitor standard warehousing and fulfillment procedures such as receiving, picking, and packing, for speed, efficiency, and quality of throughput.
  • Able to communicate and connect with both executives and warehouse employees and balance the demands of each.
  • Manage logistics budgets including facilities, labor, supplies, and freight.
  • Continuously optimizing operations and finding effective ways to both reduce spending and enhance the customer experience.
  • Track data to proactively identify and tackle inefficiencies before they become liabilities.
  • Provide updates on the status of projects and give progress reports on other process improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise facility design, improvements, and contracts, including real estate transactions, leases, repairs, and design.
  • Manage carrier implementations and establish service level agreements to ensure services are delivered as promised.
  • Handling e-commerce, quoting, and integration.
  • Organize staff training, development, and performance reviews.
  • Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs officials to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate the organizations safety policies in accordance with applicable safety standards and applicable legislation.

Professional & Educational Background:

  • 10-15 years of experience in Freight Forwarding and 3PL industry is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in supply chain management , transportation, economics, business administration, project management, or a similar field is required.
  • Strong experience in e-commerce, quoting, negotiation and integration is required.
  • The designation Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or registration in the educational program of the Supply Chain Management Association considered an asset.
