The Fleet Planner is responsible for supporting our operations team with daily tasks to ensure freight is moving efficiently and cost-effective manner. Monitor logistic transactions while communicating effectively and efficiently both internally and externally to achieve high levels of service.
Responsibilities will include:
Determine the most efficient and economical route.
Utilize optimization software and determine the most cost-effective routes and freight movement which fully meet the customer service requirements while maximizing profit.
Review previous day's loads for success and failures and provide metrics. Initiate investigations into causes of damage or shortages of consignments.
Organize and consolidate pallet return shipments into delivery runs to facilitate improved transit times and customer service while reducing transportation expenses.
Monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, reporting issues to warehousing and procurement.
Provide outstanding customer service based on timely and accurate feedback to appropriate questions relative to assigned duties.
Assist stakeholders in resolving issues regarding loading, unloading, appointments, unplanned accessorial and communicate to appropriate parties as necessary.
Analyze existing shipping processes for possible improvements and provide support for various implementation plans.
All other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Manager.
Qualifications
Strong background using Partner Carriers/ Third Party Brokers
Proven drive to succeed
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated accountability in their decision making
Effective communications skills (listening, verbal and written)
Good analytical, mathematical and problem solving techniques
Working knowledge of, Excel and Operations computer programs
Analytical and critical thinking skills
Must have reliable transportation
Strong problem solving skills
Proven team player with ability to align position goals with corporate strategic goals
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dispatch or planning role required
Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience would be an asset
Some post-secondary education is an asset
Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada
