The Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Long Range Mine Planning Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing mining strategies for long-term operational success. This position involves utilizing advanced planning software, geological data, and engineering principles to develop comprehensive plans that align with the company's goals and industry regulations.
Key Accountabilities:

Conduct detailed analysis of geological and geotechnical data to inform mine design and planning processes
Develop and optimize long-range mine plans, considering economic, environmental, and safety factors
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, surveyors, and environmental specialists, to integrate diverse perspectives into planning strategies
Utilize mine planning software to create accurate models and simulations for various mining scenarios
Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to continuously improve planning methodologies
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate mine plans and strategies to stakeholders, including management and regulatory authorities
Monitor and assess mining operations against the established plans, recommending adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency and productivity
Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and legal requirements in all planning activities

Other Details:

Job location: Calgary, Alberta (On-site)
Shift schedule: 5 x 2 days, 8 hours/day, Monday - Friday
This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's or higher degree in Mining Engineering or a related field
Registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer, or eligible to register
4+ years of open pit mining experience; previous experience in oil sands mining preferred
Proven experience in long-range mine planning, with a strong understanding of open-pit mining operations
Proficiency in mine planning software such as Vulcan, Deswik, or similar tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement
Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and environmental standards
