CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB)CancerCare Manitoba is the provincially mandated cancer agency dedicated exclusively to improving cancer control in Manitoba, both in children and in adults. CCMB is responsible for setting strategic priorities and longterm planning for cancer and blood disorders, as well as responsibility for early detection and screening, prevention and education, multi-disciplinary cancer treatment, as well as supportive and end-of-life care.CancerCare Manitoba is also responsible for radiation protection throughout the province. New legislation has granted CCMB, as an entity, provincial authority to conduct cancer research as part of its core mission in addition to patient care. Manitoban cancer patients, clinicians, scientists, an active comprehensive tumour bank, the Manitoba Cancer Registry, and three population-based cancer screening programs are all connected making CancerCare Manitoba's Research Institute uniquely able to conduct patient-focused and population-based research.Department of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation The Department of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and BMT at CancerCare Manitoba and the Department of Pediatrics & Child Health, Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, consists of eight faculty members with active clinical and research programs in pediatric oncology, blood and marrow transplant, adolescent and young adult oncology, hematology, hemostasis and thrombosis. It is the sole Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program, seeing patients from across the province. The program is an active contributor to Children's Oncology Group and other collaborative clinical group trials, has an active blood and marrow transplant program, and is well supported by all pediatric subspecialties.For more information visit: Opportunity:This is an opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary disease site-group model of care. In this permanent, full-time position, the Section Head of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and BMT is responsible for the supervision of the CCMB pediatric medical staff in the execution of discipline-dependent clinical in-patient and out-patient cancer and blood disorder services, University of Manitoba-related teaching and education services, administrative services, and research and academic services. This position is a Geographical Full-time position with rank of Associate or full Professor based upon qualifications.The successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality in-patient and out-patient care to patients with malignant and hematologic disorders as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital,

Health Science Centre, and CancerCare Manitoba. There will also be opportunities for collaboration with basic and clinical researchers at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba and the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute, CancerCare Manitoba. Although the successful candidate could have any one of a number of specific areas of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology-BMT interest and expertise, areas of particular interest including Pediatric Neuro-Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplant / Cellular Therapy, or Pediatric Hematology would be an asset.Department Heads are appointed by the office of the President and CEO, CancerCare Manitoba, in consultation and collaboration with the Head of the relevant academic Department with the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. The Heads of the CCMB medical departments report directly to the Chief Medical Officer.The Head of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology also functions as the Section Head, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. The Section Head reports to the Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, University of Manitoba.Remuneration is very competitive and according to the CancerCare Manitoba Physicians Remuneration Agreement. A supernumerary stipend for the Section Head is included.The Candidate:Qualified candidates must have a proven record of high clinical performance in Pediatric Hematology-OncologyBMT while having demonstrated academic credentials that may include a suitable publication record and/or administrative experience. The successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
