Job Description and Responsibilities
The WASCO PIPE PROTECTION CORPORATION is a leading provider of pipe coating solutions for the oil and gas industry. Our facility relies on complex automated systems and advanced electrical infrastructure to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity. We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Automation Superintendent to lead our team and drive technical excellence.
As the Electrical and Automation Superintendent, you will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise for all electrical and automation systems within the facility. You will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, continuous improvement, and implementation of our control systems, power distribution networks, and industrial robotics. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both supervisory experience and deep technical knowledge.
- Lead, mentor, and supervising a team of electricians and automation technicians. Develop and deliver training programs to enhance team skill set.
- Oversee the preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Coordinate and execute electrical and automation projects, including new equipment installations and system upgrades.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for complex electrical, controls, and robotic system failures to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
- Identify and implement innovative automation and control system improvements to maximize equipment lifecycle, operational efficiency (OEE), and process stability.
- Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring all electrical and automation work is performed in strict compliance with safety regulations, codes, and company procedures.
- Serve as the facility's subject matter expert on all electrical and automaton matters, providing technical guidance to maintenance, engineering, and operations.
Requirements
- Journeyman Electrician and Instrumentation Technician with Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial automation and electrical systems
- Extensive, hands-on experience with Siemens PLC
- Experience servicing and fault finding of induction heating equipment
- Strong understanding of industrial controls, robotics, and safety systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software (e.g., SAP).
- Valid driver's license
