The Medical Physics Assistant provides support for the clinical programs of radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging, through their contributions to quality assurance, ongoing program maintenance and improvement (including radiation safety), development and implementation of new devices and techniques, applied medical physics research, and contributions to the orderly and efficient operation of the programs.

Duties will include:

  • Performing quality assurance measurements and contributing to the Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Supporting programs and program development as directed by each Medical Physicist.
  • Developing and implementing new devices.
  • Maintaining and expanding general and project specific knowledge.
  • Contributing to applied medical physics research.
  • Creating computer code to enable structured, repeatable processes.
  • Working with data across multiple software/equipment platforms requiring the use of a variety of machine user interfaces.
  • Performing complex calculations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters level degree in science, preference for medical physics specialty.
  • Recent experience in experimental science, preference for recent experience specifically attained in clinical radiation oncology and / or diagnostic imaging.
  • Specific knowledge and skills include:
  • an understanding of radiation physics, imaging physics, and dosimetry principles;
  • a working knowledge of radiation safety;
  • an aptitude for working with computer applications and code;
  • an aptitude for solving problems using physics, mathematics, and computer science;
  • good geometrical and spatial perception;
  • good manual dexterity and visual acuity;
  • an ability to lift and accurately position equipment; and
  • a high level of attention to detail.

Other Qualifications / Assets

  • Education successfully completed from a Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) accredited program.
  • Education and experience such as training in WHMIS, radiation safety, MATLAB, python, SQL, C#.

Salary Range: $38.38 to $47.09 per hour

Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 Hours Bi-Weekly / Days / Monday to Friday, Including Time Outside of Clinic Hours
