JOB SUMMARY:

The social pediatrics family physician is responsible for providing social pediatrics services in the communities of Richibucto, Bouctouche and Saint-Louis-de-Kent in collaboration with the Coordinator of Community Social Pediatrics.

The community social pediatrics (CSP) family physician delivers care to children based on a holistic approach to health care, in cooperation with an interprofessional and intersectoral team. The physician works in the community with vulnerable children and families to ensure that children achieve optimal wellness and development while at the same time respecting their rights and interests. The physician focuses on the child's needs and strengths as well as those of their family and community. The physician participates in the major societal issues affecting the health and well-being of children.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree from a recognized medical school and residency granting a licence in family medicine;

A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criterium:

  • accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);

OR

  • listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a note for Canada under the Sponsor Notes tab;
  • One to three years' experience will be considered an asset;
  • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered;
  • Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
  • Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association;
  • Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society;
  • Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
  • Registration with New Brunswick Medicare;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network's management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
