Our firm continues to grow, so we are currently searching for an Intermediate Paralegal to join our Halifax office.

The ideal candidates will have:

Exceptional attention to detail and is adept at setting priorities

Strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading

Effective communication skills both written and verbal

Organization and time management skills

The capability to be an energetic self-starter who initiates and anticipates needs

A passion for providing superior client service

The ability to creatively solve problems, make decisions, facilitate and manage deadlines

The dexterity to remain calm under pressure

The aptitude to work both independently and within a team

The capability to work full-time Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

The availability to work in the office a minimum of three (3) days per week

Responsibilities:

Execute initial file reviews and assessments

Draft various types of documents (i.e. pleadings, motion materials, mediation summaries, chronologies, quantum, statements of claim etc.)

Manage document discovery process by reviewing and summarizing documentation

Communicate with clients and opposing counsel

Conduct legal research, if needed

Prepare List of Documents

Organize materials for expert witnesses

Interview fact and expert witnesses and summarize evidence

Prepare for XFDs, court hearings, mediation, and trial

Draft BOC's and settlement documentation

Work with internal team and clients on file progress

Perform other general administrative duties as needed

Adhere to strict deadlines on a daily basis

Exercise confidentiality and adapt to changing demands as they arise

Track and docket your time on a daily basis, meeting daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly billing goals

Qualifications:

A graduate from a recognized Paralegal program

In-depth knowledge of legal principles and practices

A minimum of eight (8) years litigation experience, preferably in insurance defence

Exceptional technical skills with Microsoft Office

Demonstrated ability using electronic file management systems, preferably iManage

Knowledge of Elite 3E
