Barista

As a Barista, your role is to act as a guide through an authentic Café 295 experience ensuring each guest receives quality service and dedication.

Barista Key Roles
Enthusiastic, professional and hospitable
Ensure every guest leaves the café with a sense of appreciation and gratification
Knowledgeable and ready to answer all questions regarding the coffee program, beverage selection, and food offerings
Preparing coffee beverages according to Café 295 recipe and execution standards, whereby beverages are presented with an exceptional level of attention to detail
Ensure service timing standards are met while executing orders
Get to know regular guest's preferences as well as identify opportunities to introduce guests to new offerings or options

Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge of Café 295 products, menu's and promotions; flavour profiles, descriptors, benefits and complimentary flavours
Expert knowledge in espresso and various coffee/tea offerings; including preparation methods, use and maintenance of equipment
Able to train team members in methods of steaming milk and latte art
Assists team members with procedures for taking food and beverage orders, re-stocking supplies and taking Café 295 inquiries
Follows Café 295 recipes for food and beverage preparation
Develop regular guest visits through recognition and hospitality
Handling guest concerns with and without the support of a manager
Clearing, cleaning and restocking of coffee service areas, side stations, retail displays, pastry counter, and guest seating areas
Support standards of cleanliness, timing, uniform, grooming, organization, production, food quality, and consistency through completion of operational checklists
Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with health and safety regulations
Maintains inventory of all products that may need to be stocked, pulled, and/or prepped
Communicate effectively between alternate shifts (am and pm) and ensure station is stocked and ready for service for current and incoming shift
Ensure proper rotation, labelling, and dating of all products
Maintaining food and beverage stock, displays and fridges; rotation and labelling of product following FIFO and other safe food handling procedures
Washing and sanitizing coffee mugs, plateware and utensils
Accurate use of the POS system to enter orders and assist guest with payment processing
Proper adherence to all cash handling procedures as outlined in company policies
Job Requirements
MUST-HAVE: Latte Art, Minimum 3 years Experience
Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a high-paced environment
Minimum of 3-year related barista experience
Current and valid Serve Safe certification considered an asset
Previous work or volunteer experience with special needs individuals is an asset
Fluency in English both written and verbal
Experience with a point of sale system
Ability to work Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
