Level 1- Data Center Technician
Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a Level 1 Data Center Technician with knowledge in cabling, general IT and deployment support, and physical site service support to place at our client, a Big Five Tech Giant. We have personally qualified the requirement with the hiring manager.
Client: Big Five Tech Giant, a multinational technology corporation
Terms: 6 month contract, possible extension
Location: GTA, On Site

Responsibilities:
Cabling:
- Strictly follow documented procedures for areas where support is being provided
- Based on cable maps designed, determine cable lengths required, provide cable lengths to company order, label cables, and run cables.
- Run network cables to pre-allocated network demarks.
- Remove network cables as part of a datacenter decommission
- Maintain data center facilities removing debris and empty boxes once no longer needed and putting away tools prior to shift changes each day
- Scope, test, and troubleshoot cable connections
- Current certification for scissor-lift operation
General IT and Deployment Support
- General understanding of server/computer hardware
- Supporting parts/component replacement and physical hardware troubleshooting
- Familiar with company tools and processes
- Complete all company-assigned safety and security trainings
- Perform power cycles, swap out failed components, handle storage media, and perform troubleshooting
- Scope, test, and troubleshoot cable connections
- Spare part cycle count audits
- RMA processing
- Able to perform simple network and server hardware replacement
- Server rack, stack, and cable
- Decommission IT equipment (server and network under company supervision)
Physical Site Services Support
- Physically assist in moving and racking equipment
- Receive shipments as directed by company
- Maintain data center facilities removing debris and empty boxes once no longer needed
- Putt away tools prior to shift changes each day
- Hard drive shredding
- Audit and inventory management support
Qualifications:
- Work in a team environment
- Good communication skills
- Experience in troubleshooting
