About the role:

Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support and lead critical components of an on-prem to Azure migration project. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week in Vancouver, with some flexibility depending on the stage of rollout. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can independently manage tasks, troubleshoot effectively, and drive progress with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support migration of workloads from VMware to Azure IaaS
• Assist with application-specific migrations from on-prem to Azure using Azure Migrate or through redeployment of infrastructure
• Configure and support Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Azure Entra ID, and Windows Server environments
• Participate in the deployment and testing of a new Disaster Recovery solution
• Conduct DR testing across assigned application and server groups
• Assist with relocating ISP and firewall infrastructure between physical locations (data center to office floor)
• Provide support using Zendesk for incident/ticket tracking
• Collaborate with the networking team for rollout coordination; presence onsite may increase during rollout phases

Requirements:

• Proven experience with Azure migrations and VMware environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft stack: Active Directory, Azure Entra, Windows Server
• Solid foundational knowledge of networking (e.g., routing, switching, firewalls)
• Experience working with ticketing systems (Zendesk preferred)
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Able to work independently, take initiative, and quickly adapt to new systems
