This role is for a Contractor - Application Support Analyst (Intermediate) at Societe Generale's Global Business Service Unit (GBSU) Canada, focused on supporting US-based real-time payment applications linked to Fedwire and Chips.
Role Overview:
- You will be part of a diverse, regional team managing payment systems critical to real-time financial transactions.
- The role blends technical support, development, and operational tasks, offering exposure to both business and technology sides of payment applications.
- You'll work closely with developers and production support analysts, with mentorship opportunities to grow Java programming skills.
- Involved in a major global payments initiative (ISO20022 payment message format change).
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide level 2 and 3 technical and functional support for payment applications, resolving production issues and managing incident reporting.
- Develop automation tools to streamline manual tasks and build monitoring/reporting tools.
- Perform post-deployment testing (quality assurance) for new releases.
- Build and enhance application features.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and automate operational tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders on application issues, document incidents, and create remediation plans.
- Understand and comply with the regulated financial environment and ITIL processes.
- Participate in projects and cross-team tasks.
- Work shift/on-call rotations, including occasional weekends.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years in Application/Production/DevOps support roles.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent certifications.
- Comfortable with UNIX/Linux and Windows environments.
- Basic to intermediate Java programming skills or willingness to develop them.
- Experience with test-driven development environments.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Good grasp of Agile and Continuous Delivery methodologies.
- Fluent in English (oral and written); French is also required.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in payments systems (SWIFT, Montran, ACH Plus, Fedwire, Chips).
- Familiarity with IBM MQ Series.
- Knowledge of real-time interface design.
- Understanding of Capital Markets and Investment Banking.
