THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client, a national innovation organization, is seeking a Government Relations Coordinator to help strengthen and maintain trusted relationships with government partners across Canada. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations and collaborating closely with internal teams, this role plays a key part in advancing the organization's government engagement strategy, supporting efforts to drive digital innovation and contribute to Canada's economic growth.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Assisting the Director of Government Relations in executing federal and provincial engagement strategies, including monitoring progress toward advocacy objectives.
  • Contributing to the creation of impactful briefing materials, presentations, and reports for both government stakeholders and internal leadership.
  • Drafting and refining clear, persuasive communications, including talking points, correspondence, and backgrounders, for meetings with Ministers, political staff, and public servants.
  • Conducting policy research and analysis on key topics including innovation, artificial intelligence, digital health, housing, workforce development, and critical minerals.
  • Monitoring political and legislative activity to identify opportunities for strategic engagement or collaboration.
  • Supporting the coordination of meetings, events, and roundtables with government stakeholders, including handling logistics, developing agendas, and managing follow-ups.
  • Maintaining accurate records of government interactions in compliance with federal and provincial lobbying regulations.
  • Facilitating coordination and communication across internal teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging in all government-facing materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for innovation and contributing to a stronger, more prosperous Canada.
  • 3+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, communications, public affairs, or a related advocacy or political environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex policy topics into clear, accessible language.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of federal and provincial government systems and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and proactive with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration platforms (experience with Salesforce considered an asset).
  • French language skills are an asset but not required.

COMPENSATION:

  • $65,000 - $80,000, annually.
