Job Title: Web Designer (UX Designer)- Level 3 Senior

Client: Federal Government

Contract : 3 Years

Location: 200 Kent Street 200 rue Kent Ottawa, ON, K1A 0E6

Extension : two (2) additional one (1) -year period(s) under the same terms and conditions.

Clearance : Reliability

Role: responsible for creating the visual and interactive elements of a product, ensuring it is both aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly. Senior and Intermediate Web Designers collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into design prototypes, focusing on user experience and interface design to enhance overall usability and satisfaction. Tasks in the scope of this role could include:

  1. Producing products and services that are user-friendly, and accessible for the end- users;
  2. Participating in all phases of the UX design process, including:
  • Designing wireframes and prototypes; and
  • Continuously iterating on solutions.
  1. Designing all the screens a user might interact with and creating the visual and interactive elements that make this interaction possible, such as designing the following features:
  • Icons;
  • Buttons;
  • Menu bars;
  • Typography; and
  • colors, etc.
  1. Documenting design specifications by creating annotations for effective hand-off to the development team;
  2. Contributing to and maintaining the design system;
  3. Creating reusable design components, and optimizing the user interface for performance;
  4. Ensuring compliance with style guides such as the Canada.ca design system and the Canada.ca Content Style Guide ;
  5. Working in an open, iterative and collaborative way with the CDO;
  6. Working within a strategic context and communicating how activities meet strategic goals;
  7. Participating in or running design critiques to receive and integrate feedback from Stakeholders throughout the design process;
  8. Presenting design work with evidence-based justifications and support from research to various stakeholders; and
  9. Applying ethics, data privacy, accessibility, and inclusive lenses to all stages of design activities.

Deliverables:

Web Designer (UX Designer)

  • Wireframes and prototypes for products and services (including interactive elements, fonts, colours, typography, icons);
  • Accessible annotations for all designs ready for hand-off to development team;
  • Prototypes and usability test environment, supporting test orchestration, and results analysis;
  • Additions of elements and patterns to the design system and style guides; and

Design critiques to evaluate design effectiveness before it is finalized

Mandatory Technical Criteria

1.

Experience as Senior Web Designer

The Contractor must demonstrate, using Reference Project(s) that the proposed resource for Senior Web Designer has a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) months of experience within the past one hundred eighty (180) months as of the TA request date as a Web Designer - Level 3 in accordance with the TBIPS Supply Arrangement EN578- 170432 series.

To demonstrate such experience, the Contractor must provide one (1) or more Reference Project(s) as defined in Section 1.0 of this appendix.

2.

Experience managing UX design

The Contractor must demonstrate, using Reference Project(s), that the proposed resource for Senior Web Designer has a minimum of sixty (60) months of experience within the past one hundred twenty (120) months of the TA request date in managing the user experience design lifecycle, including a minimum of any 4 of the following:

  1. supporting user research;
  2. creating user personas;
  3. developing prototypes;
  4. performing usability tests;
  5. ensuring compliance with visual brand guidelines;
  6. continuously iterating on solutions with feedback collected through various mechanisms;
  7. complying with accessibility standards.

To demonstrate such experience, the Contractor must provide one (1) or more Reference Project(s) as defined in Section 1.0 of this appendix.

3.

Cross-functional experience

The Contractor must demonstrate, using Reference Project(s), that the proposed resource for Senior Web Designer has a minimum of sixty (60) months of experience within the past one hundred twenty (120) months of the TA request date communicating and collaborating cross-functionally, including all of the following:

  1. communicating with Project Stakeholders;
  2. collaborating with Agile cross- functional teams;
  3. aligning design with strategic business objectives; and
  4. presenting design work with evidence- based justifications to various Project Stakeholders.
