Our client, a well-known brand and a well-established organization, has an immediate opening for an Information Systems Security Engineer to join their team in Vancouver.

As a Security Engineer, you'll bring your hands-on expertise to collaborate across IT and business teams, ensuring technology environment remains secure, resilient, and aligned with organization's goals. You'll be a key resource for complex security challenges and play a vital role in protecting the organization from evolving cyber threats.

During a typical day, you will:

  • Collaborate closely and respectfully with infrastructure, development, and business teams to provide security guidance and hands-on support.
  • Lead security reviews and design robust security controls across networks, applications, and cloud environments.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain security tools such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and cloud security platforms.
  • Research and assess emerging security technologies to enhance organization's security posture.
  • Audit and strengthen security configurations on cloud, endpoints, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Administer data loss prevention (DLP) policies and support inclusive identity and access management initiatives.
  • Oversee SIEM operations including log onboarding, parsing, and use case development.
  • Lead incident response activities with collaboration, perform forensic analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Support compliance efforts related to PCI, ISO27001, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Monitor firewall, router, switch, and security appliance configurations and events.
  • Review and approve security change requests to ensure safe and effective implementations.

What you bring:

  • 7+ years in a Security role, with at least 2 years in security engineering.
  • Relevant education such as CISSP certification, undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or equivalent diplomas/certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, IAM, Infrastructure as Code, and enterprise security tools including Firewalls, SIEM, MDM, and solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile development environments and experience collaborating with diverse development teams.
  • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to explain complex security topics in an accessible way.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a way that respects different perspectives.
  • Proactive approach with strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative mindset that prioritizes doing the right thing and embraces continuous learning and inclusion.
