The Opportunity: Prefabrication Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Prefabrication Manager - Mechanical Construction to join our team in Vancouver, BC. This is a full-time, on-site role where you will be instrumental in leading our prefabrication efforts. You'll be responsible for overseeing the entire prefabrication process, managing dedicated teams, and ensuring the successful and efficient completion of our mechanical projects.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

As our Prefabrication Manager, you will:

• Strategize & Optimize: Develop and implement highly effective fabrication strategies, workflows, and robust QA/QC procedures to optimize production, maximize efficiency, and minimize defects. You'll leverage best practices like Lean Construction to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate on Cost & Schedule: Work closely with our General and Construction Managers to establish precise cost control codes, budgets, and efficient fabrication schedules that align seamlessly with evolving project timelines.
• Integrate with Design & Project Teams: Collaborate with the BIM and Project Management Teams to ensure all prefabrication efforts support material efficiency and meet critical project schedule requirements.
• Lead & Develop Teams: Hire, train, supervise, and mentor our fabrication shop personnel, welders, apprentices, and other sub-trades. You'll foster a positive, safe, and highly productive work environment.
• Manage Resources: Oversee comprehensive material inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and quality verification. You'll also manage tool and equipment planning, maintenance, and tracking to ensure seamless operations.
• Maintain Tool Crib & Tracking: Organize and maintain a secure tool crib, and lead the implementation and daily use of tool tracking and and maintenance software to ensure peak performance.
• Ensure Quality Welding Operations: Oversee all welding operations, manage welding materials, and coordinate necessary X-ray and visual inspections to uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance.

What You'll Bring: Required Competencies & Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred.
• Education: Successful completion of a post-secondary Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent is preferred.
• Communication: Proficient English oral and written communication skills are essential. You can effectively follow verbal and written instructions and accurately complete required paperwork.
• Technical Acumen: Possess the ability to accurately read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications.
• Organization & Problem-Solving: You are well-organized with the ability to prioritize workload effectively to meet deliverables and customer expectations. You possess well-developed problem-solving skills, capable of finding innovative solutions and integrating them into existing practices.
• Team Player: Able to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a high-performing team.
• Certifications & Software (Preferred):Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred.
• Experience with Stratus is preferred.
• Experience with Procore is preferred.
• Driving: Possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
