Job Title: Asset HSSE Investigation and Learning Focal

Reporting to: Asset H&S Manager

Location: Kitimat

About the Role:

Our LNG client is hiring an Investigation and Learning Focal. This is someone who has great collaborating and coaching skills to contribute to the development and implementation of HSSE behaviour and culture in the operations and maintenance of the Asset. We are seeking extensive knowledge in the application of the HSSE manuals, processes, and procedures for our team to create injury free operations in a hazardous environment.

The Investigation and Learning Focal key role is to support the Asset HSSE team in the readiness, implementation, and monitoring of the HSSE Incident Management System within the HSSE Control Framework.

This role plays a key part in fostering a learning culture by capturing and dissemination lessons learned, driving continuous improvement in Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support incident investigations using causal learning methodology
  • Coach and mentor frontline teams and leaders on incident learning and prevention
  • Manage investigation competency development for facilitators
  • Analyze HSSE data, identify trends and failed barriers, and recommend improvements
  • Support regulatory reporting and ensure documentation compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, contractors, and external networks
  • Develop high-quality learning materials and reflective learning sessions
  • Support the continuous improvement of safety systems and culture in operations and maintenance

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years HSSE experience in industrial, petrochemical, or large project environments
  • LNG experience is considered an asset
  • Post-secondary education in engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Skilled in incident investigations and learning methodologies (Causal Learning preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-risk environment with evolving operations
  • Experience analyzing human and system-level failures
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Kitimat, BC

Additional Requirements:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work outdoors at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Pass background checks, medical, and drug/alcohol testing
  • Willing to be part of an on-call rotation and work flexible hours during critical phases
  • Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role.
