In early 2023, the Corporate Finance team launched its new Debt & Capital Advisory (DCA) practice, based in Vancouver but with a national mandate. The practice has experienced compelling growth in a short time. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to be an early team member, contributing to the culture and growth of the practice.

Meaningful work you'll be part of

As a Managing Director, you'll work with a team of problem solvers, helping to address business issues, deliver high-quality client service, and improve operational efficiency. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Business development both internally within the firm and externally in the market
  2. Supporting other service lines related to banking and capital raising
  3. Managing transactions from concept to successful closing with minimal supervision
  4. Managing, training, developing, and mentoring Directors, Managers, Senior Associates, Analysts, and staff
  5. Preparing, reviewing, and communicating complex financial and capital market information to clients (executives, owners, Boards)
  6. Overseeing the preparation and review of documents such as pitch presentations, confidential information memorandums, and management presentations
  7. Preparing and reviewing financial models and leverage analyses
  8. Developing insightful financier/investor lists based on experience
  9. Leading client meetings, marketing calls, presentations, and due diligence sessions
  10. Acting as the main contact for clients, advisers, legal counsel, and transaction counterparties
  11. Overseeing the due diligence process, including data room management and response coordination
  12. Assisting with internal engagement compliance

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve

  1. Understanding of various debt instruments and experience closing capital raises (senior debt, junior capital, private credit, minority equity)
  2. Completion of professional designations (CA, CPA, CFA, CBV, MBA) preferred
  3. Significant experience in debt advisory, investment banking, corporate finance, or lending, with a track record of developing markets and closing transactions
  4. Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards and integrity
  5. Ability to translate complex business and financial information into clear, concise presentations
