Job Title: Lead Hand

Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Shift Time: 7:00am to 3:30pm

Terms: Permanent Full-Time

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Reports To: Fulfillment Services Manager

Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for supporting a high-performance team by monitoring daily workflow operations, training, and supporting the onboarding of new hires. This role plays a key part in supporting team performance through clear communication, prioritization, and continuous feedback. They ensure the team meets deadlines while maintaining a collaborative and accountable work environment. This role champions workplace safety and helps identify growth opportunities for team members to advance in their careers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Support company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) by proactively contributing to initiatives that drive strategic goals and organizational success
  • Support daily pre-shift meetings to align and motivate the team
  • Monitor resources and daily tasks to ensure efficient warehouse operations
  • Monitor work quality and coach team members to meet performance targets
  • Support onboarding and ensure new employees have the tools, training, and support needed for success
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Open and/or close the warehouse as needed

Operations & Workflow Management

  • Support daily warehouse functions, including picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and forklift operation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse operations
  • Encourage action plans to improve productivity, accuracy, and service levels
  • Lead by example, being a company ambassador for quality standards and procedures

Equipment & Safety Compliance

  • Conduct and document daily equipment inspections, including forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Monitor battery charge levels and properly store or maintain spare batteries (site dependent)
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by supporting health and safety initiatives
  • Identify and report equipment for performance concerns to Management for resolution
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing the warehouse during and after shifts, including high and low spaces

Inventory Handling & Material Movement

  • Safely operate equipment to move, store, and retrieve palletized goods above floor height
  • Load/unload materials using appropriate devices such as forklifts, skids, or clamps.
  • Assist with inventory and cycle counts and record material weight, quantity, and conditions as assigned
  • Report damages or discrepancies in product or inventory to management

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete daily reports and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Handle routine paperwork such as picking sheets, returns, and bills of lading
  • Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of material movements and conditions

Professional & Educational Background:

  • Valid Forklift License
  • Experience in an ISO environment
  • Warehousing or Third-Party Logistics (3PL) experience

  • Competent in using basic warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld scanners

Effort & Working Conditions:

  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended periods
  • Able to stay alert and make sound judgement during busy or repetitive tasks
