MAIN DUTIES:

The Beverage Manager at 1 Hotels plays a key role in shaping and overseeing the hotel's beverage program. This includes selecting and sourcing wines, spirits, and other beverages, creating innovative and appealing drink menus, managing inventory, and ensuring smart, cost-effective purchasing. They also lead staff training to maintain high service standards, coordinate special events and promotions, and work closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless food and beverage pairings. By staying on top of trends and guest preferences, the Beverage Manager helps elevate the overall guest experience while driving profitability for the hotel.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Curate and maintain a high-quality, diverse selection of wines, spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Develop creative, on-brand drink menus tailored to the tastes and expectations of the hotel's target guests.
  • Oversee the purchasing process, including supplier negotiations, inventory monitoring, and ensuring timely, accurate deliveries.
  • Implement inventory control practices to reduce waste, maintain optimal stock levels, and ensure product freshness.
  • Train and mentor beverage staff on product knowledge, pouring techniques, and service excellence.
  • Set and uphold service standards to ensure consistent, exceptional beverage experiences across all outlets.
  • Monitor beverage costs, evaluate performance metrics, and apply strategies to enhance profitability while maintaining quality.
  • Lead the wine program, including wine list management, tastings, and cellar organization.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create thoughtful beverage pairings that enhance the dining experience.
  • Plan and execute special events, promotions, and themed activations to drive revenue and guest engagement.
  • Ensure full compliance with local liquor laws, health regulations, and safety standards.
  • Gather guest feedback, track satisfaction levels, and implement improvements to elevate the beverage experience.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with beverage suppliers and distributors.
  • Support budget planning and forecasting for the beverage department.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging consumer preferences to guide continuous innovation.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Administration, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers) or Certified Specialist of Wine (Society of Wine Educators) are highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in the hospitality industry, ideally within a luxury or upscale environment.
  • Commitment to staying current with industry trends, new beverage offerings, and evolving service standards through workshops, seminars, and professional training.
  • In-depth knowledge of wine regions, varietals, production techniques, and beverage industry trends.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with guests, staff, and vendors.
  • A passion for outstanding customer service and a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Keen attention to detail across all aspects of beverage service and operations.
  • Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and maximizing revenue.
  • Skilled in negotiating with suppliers on contracts, pricing, and service terms.
  • Creative thinking to develop engaging drink menus and promotional initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with an emphasis on cross-departmental teamwork, especially with culinary partners.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of local liquor laws, health and safety regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in software tools related to inventory management, POS systems, and financial reporting and analysis.
