Transportation Supervisor

About the Role:
This role requires a hands-on leader to oversee drivers, dispatchers, and administrative staff, while driving accountability through KPI monitoring, team coaching, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of drivers, dispatchers, and other transportation team members.
- Plan and assign daily routes and schedules to ensure optimal fleet utilization.
- Monitor and report on transportation KPIs including on-time delivery, cost per mile, fuel efficiency, and compliance.
- Provide leadership and coaching to team members, fostering a culture of safety, performance, and accountability.
- Collaborate with warehouse, customer service, and operations teams to resolve delivery issues and improve service levels.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, safety, and company policies and regulations.
- Conduct regular team meetings, driver debriefs, and performance reviews.
- Analyze logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of drivers and dispatch staff.
- Oversee preventative maintenance scheduling and vehicle availability.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management.
- Proven leadership experience managing drivers and dispatchers in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, fleet safety standards, and routing systems.
- Experience working with logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and experience managing KPIs and performance metrics.
Preferred:
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or related field.
- Experience in unionized environments is an asset.
