Role and Objectives:

The Estimating Coordinator, under the direction of the Senior Director, Operations Planning, is responsible for ensuring accurate estimations on Kalesnikoff product offerings including, but not limited to, Mass Timber, Light Framed Walls, Roof Trusses, and Modulars. The Estimating Coordinator will support the Sales Team and the Senior Director, Operations Planning in reviewing construction documents to develop understanding of scope requirements and prepare compliant budget and tender proposals while performing detailed quantity takeoffs for mass timber, lumber, steel connectors, fasteners, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Review all tenders and bid requests to ensure scopes of work match proposals.
  • Assign quotes to team members based on skill set and availability.
  • Review quote requests to determine if projects are worth pursuing.
  • Develop budgets using preliminary design documents.
  • Build 3D geometry models off of structural/architectural/mechanical drawings for use in producing estimates.
  • Solicit supply pricing and develop a solid understanding of products available in the market.
  • Review addendums to see if scope of work has changed and determine its effect on project pricing.
  • Use provided load calculations to determine material grades and connection types.
  • Put together quote documents and tender packages laying out all pricing and relevant information.
  • Attend design assist meetings and provide feedback to improve design or constructability of Mass Timber projects.
  • Track project deadlines and maintain an active progress report of all active quotes.
  • Ensure quotes/bids are submitted within the customers requested timeframe.
  • Provide options to project team on how to modify designs to improve pricing.
  • Develop training documents and processes
  • Other duties as requested or required.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Technology or Construction Technology
  • 5 years' experience in project management and/or estimating an asset.
  • Technical school education is an asset.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Excel, Project, and estimate takeoff software such as Onscreen Takeoff or Bluebeam
  • Experience with CADwork, Rhino, Revit, or other 3D design software would be an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Overtime as required.
  • Very occasional exposure to dust, noise, and fumes if entering production facility.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment may be required - when entering production facility, for example. (PPE may include hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
  • Desk work, with interruptions and an expectation of ability to refocus quickly.

Compensation Package:

  • Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 Depending on education and experience
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday
