Desktop Support Technician (Full-Time, Permanent)

Location: Edmonton, AB

Overview:

The Desktop Support Technician will serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance, providing day-to-day support and administration of user workstations and related systems, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of IT services across the organization.

Reporting to the Manager of Business Information Systems, the Desktop Support Technician is responsible for supporting all components of ARTA's IT infrastructure. This includes troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, as well as installing, configuring, and maintaining end-user workstations and related systems.

What you will do:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support and system administration for end users.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and systems-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of issues and solutions within the ticketing system, escalating issues as required.
  • Install, configure, and maintain user workstations and related IT systems.
  • Maintain and update technology asset tracking system using the GoCodes platform.
  • Support, maintain, and administer communication systems, including VolP phone system, voice mail, and mobile device set up and configuration.
  • Plan and implement operating system upgrades, software updates, and security patches.
  • Perform daily backup procedures and tasks to ensure backup integrity.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned or required.

What you will have:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a Microsoft operating system support environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a desktop support or IT services role.
  • CompTIA A+ or Network + Certifications, or equivalent coursework or post-secondary education in IT.
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows desktop Operating Systems and Microsoft 365 (Office 365).
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong commitment to customer service excellence, ensuring end users receive responsive, respectful, and effective support.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside regular office hours, as required.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
