Overview

We are seeking a Senior Shopify Engineer to lead the technical evolution of our Shopify Plus storefront. In this role, you will support re-platforming, ensure seamless integrations, optimise performance, and drive innovative solutions. You will collaborate closely with product managers, program managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineers to deliver a best-in-class e-commerce experience.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Customisation

• Architect, develop, and customise Shopify Plus themes and applications.
• Implement high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code across storefront components.
• Contribute to projects focused on conversion rate optimisation (CRO), user experience enhancements, and integration of new e-commerce features.

Integration & Architecture

• Serve as the technical expert for integrations between Shopify and legacy systems (ERP, WMS, PIM, MRP), supporting the overall migration to a new platform.
• Ensure seamless data flow and system compatibility.
• Support Shopify Markets, product subscriptions, and multi-region rollouts.

Performance Optimisation

• Optimise the performance, speed, and scalability of the Shopify storefront.
• Conduct regular audits and implement best practices for site performance and SEO.

Testing & QA

• Implement automated testing practices to ensure code quality and platform stability.
• Debug issues across browsers, devices, and systems.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with product managers, program managers, and UX/UI designers to ensure technical feasibility and roadmap alignment.
• Provide mentorship and serve as the subject matter expert on Shopify within the organisation.
• Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of web development experience, with at least 3 years focused on Shopify, Shopify Markets and utilization of Shopify APIs.
• Proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Tailwind CSS.
• Experience with Node.js and GraphQL.
• Experience with project management tools, preferably Asana or Jira.
• Strong understanding of e-commerce best practices, with a focus on performance and customer experience.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, startup-like environment.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset and commitment to high-quality code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD workflows, and headless implementations.
• Familiarity with Alpine.js.
• Experience with AI-powered tools.
