About the Role

A fast-growing digital entertainment company is looking for an experienced Principal or Lead DevOps Engineer to help build scalable backend systems for a next-gen online social gaming platform.

We seek a Lead DevOps Engineer to own and shape our DevOps practices, fostering a strong DevOps culture. You'll design and manage secure, scalable infrastructure in AWS, combining strategic vision with hands-on execution. This position involves team leadership, setting best practices, and ensuring efficient, reliable development operations.

This is a fully remote position to work from Canada (Core Hours 9:30 am - 4:30 pm PST)

Salary: CAD 120k to 150k gross/year

Hybrid positions in a payroll system.

The company is base in Vancouver, Canada.

Candidate Requirements Summary:

  • Proven leadership in DevOps or platform engineering within cloud-first environments.
  • 5+ years of experience with AWS CDK and TypeScript
  • Deep expertise in AWS architecture, services, and cost optimization for high-traffic apps.
  • Advanced skills in Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong knowledge of GitHub, GitHub Actions, and secure secret handling.
  • Experience building efficient CI/CD pipelines for both monoliths and microservices.
  • Security-focused mindset with cloud-native controls implementation.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, committed to supporting development teams.

Preferred Skills & Nice-to-Have Experience:

At least one of the following skills:

  • Previous Experience with PHP / Laravel or Next.js
  • Previous Experience with New Relic and Sentry
  • Previous Experience implementing a DevSecOps Pipeline to ensure Security Best Practices are enforced.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead DevOps initiatives and promote best practices across teams.
  • Own and manage AWS infrastructure with a focus on security, availability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption using AWS CDK.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and incident response protocols.
  • Ensure infrastructure meets security and compliance standards.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing DevOps team with a clear strategic vision.
