Consultant, Business Controls (Finance)

Client: Big 5 Bank

Location: Downtown Toronto.

Hybrid: 2 days in office per week

Duration of Contract/Perm: 6 months contract with potential for extension.

Hours/week: 37.5 hrs/wk. 9-5 PM, M-F

Overview: This role focuses on identifying and addressing control gaps and conducting risk assessments within finance-related projects. The ideal candidate will bring sound judgment and a consultative approach to help design and enhance control environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform control gap assessments and risk evaluations for finance initiatives.
• Collaborate with project teams to review procedures and recommend control enhancements.
• Provide expert advice on risk mitigation strategies and control design.
• Support the implementation of remediation plans and ensure alignment with governance standards.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across business and risk functions.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of finance operations and risk management principles.
• Experience in control design, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Effective communicator with experience working across multiple teams.
