The HR Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all human resources activities for the Boucherville and Quebec City manufacturing plants. Operating in a dynamic environment focused on cultural transformation and operational optimization, this individual plays a strategic role in aligning HR initiatives with business objectives. As a key member of the Division Management Committee, the HR Manager also leads the local HR team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a business partner by developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with divisional goals
- Lead, develop, and support members of the HR team
- Administer and ensure compliance with collective agreements; act as the primary expert in labor relations
- Maintain effective relationships with union representatives and represent the employer in labor relations matters (e.g., grievances, disciplinary actions, legislative recourse)
- Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of company policies, procedures, and labor laws
- Coordinate and optimize talent management processes, including activities related to the Dayforce HRIS system (recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation, and engagement modules)
- Complete the implementation of HRIS interfaces, particularly those related to employee benefits
- Advise and support managers in workforce planning and organizational development initiatives
- Participate in collective agreement negotiations from preparation to conclusion
- Actively contribute to plant management meetings and various committees (e.g., OHS, francization, mobilization, labor relations)
- Coach and support managers in effective people management and leadership development
- Ensure compliance with pay equity requirements and lead the associated evaluation process
- Develop and oversee internal communication strategies related to employees and labor relations
Key skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management, Business Administration (HR concentration), or a related field
- 5-10 years of progressive HR and/or labor relations experience, ideally as a generalist or HR business partner
- Proven experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Member in good standing with the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (CHRP designation)
- Strong knowledge of applicable labor laws and regulations
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, particularly in system implementation
- Solid understanding of total rewards practices
- Demonstrated agility in managing through organizational transformation
- Effective negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French
- Collaborative and influential leadership style with a strong ability to mobilize teams
