Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support recruitment efforts by screening candidates and coordinating interviews.
- Facilitate new hire onboarding and electronic training modules.
- Personally welcome new hires as needed across terminals.
- Represent the company at job fairs and recruitment events.
Employee Relations
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Support conflict resolution and participate in investigations as needed.
- Contribute to positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives (e.g., anniversary celebrations, GLS Appreciation BBQs, and driver awards).
- Conduct weekly terminal visits across Quebec to maintain employee visibility and support.
- Assist in the execution of progressive discipline, performance management, and return-to-work processes.
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain and update accurate electronic employee files and records.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with federal labor standards and internal HR policies.
- Prepare weekly and monthly KPI reports (e.g., turnover metrics, recruitment activity, and terminal visit summaries).
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Support benefits administration including employee enrollments, updates, and communication.
- Liaise with payroll regarding internal inquiries, and new hires.
Requirements
- Flexible Schedule & Travel: Must be comfortable with frequent travel and adjusting hours to support AM/PM shifts and terminal coverage across Quebec.
- Corporate Vehicle Use: Must be eligible and comfortable driving a company vehicle to terminal visits and events.
- Bilingual Communication: Fluency in French and English (both written and verbal) is required to support a bilingual workforce effectively.
- Labour Law Knowledge: Solid understanding of federal labor laws.
Work Arrangement
- Primary Work Location: Head Office (daily).
- Hybrid Option: After successful onboarding and training, the HR Specialist may be eligible to work from home 1-2 days per week, subject to operational needs, scheduled events, internal meetings, and terminal visit requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary: $55,000 per year
- 3 paid personal days per year
- 10 paid sick days per year
- 4% vacation accrual (Two weeks)
- Group benefits available after the probationary period
