Role: Principal Cloud Engineer (GCP)

A high-performance consultancy is hiring a Principal Cloud Engineer to architect and lead delivery of modern infrastructure across Google Cloud environments. This is a senior leadership role that blends hands-on GCP engineering with platform ownership, team mentorship, and direct client engagement.
You'll take point on delivering secure, scalable infrastructure for some of Canada's most exciting tech and enterprise clients - ideal for a senior GCP engineer ready to take full ownership of architecture, delivery, and strategy.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver production-ready infrastructure on GCP, using Terraform, Cloud Build, and GCP-native tools
- Lead technical discovery and infrastructure strategy across networking, IAM, container orchestration (GKE), and serverless deployments
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, and ArgoCD
- Automate deployments and infrastructure workflows using Python, Go, or Bash
- Act as the technical lead on client projects - aligning engineering execution with business outcomes
- Mentor engineers and contribute to platform standards, design reviews, and delivery best practices
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, with deep expertise in GCP
- Proven delivery of infrastructure using Terraform, Cloud Build, and GCP services (GKE, Cloud Run, IAM, VPC, Pub/Sub, etc.)
- Strong DevOps background - CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, GitOps, and automation
- Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, Go, or Bash preferred)
- Consulting mindset - able to lead conversations, influence decisions, and build trust with clients
- Track record of mentoring teams and leading cross-functional delivery
- Strong communication and documentation skills in fast-paced, client-facing environments
