The Opportunity:
Although this is a hybrid position based out of our Canadian HQ in Calgary, there is a possibility of being fully remote.
The Learning Tax Specialist reports to the Team Lead, Tax Training and is responsible for coordinating tax content development and tax training delivery.
The Learning Tax Specialist conducts research, develops, updates, and edits training materials and documentation related to tax theory, tax preparation software and procedures to ensure Associates receive accurate and up-to-date training materials to perform their responsibilities.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Coordinates content developers/writers, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to standards.
- Provides guidance and support to content developers/writers, ensuring training materials align with tax laws, company procedures, and adult learning principles.
- Develops new and edit existing training materials for tax courses, company initiatives, procedures, and projects.
- Supports trainers during course delivery, including communicating changes to materials, addressing delivery challenges, and maintaining trainer reference materials.
- Gathers input from Field Associates for updates to training materials, ensuring appropriate revisions are made.
- Collaborates with Operations and Products & Services Teams to create and support government requirements and certifications
Key Qualifications:
- Certificate in adult learning and a minimum of 5 years of experience or a relevant combination of education and experience.
- Experience in Canadian tax preparation for individuals, businesses and US tax forms an asset.
- Knowledge of Quebec tax laws an asset.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficiency in instructional design principles and adult learning principles.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. French communication skills an asset.
- Ability to research, develop, and edit training materials.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Knowledge of tax preparation software and tools.
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms and multimedia technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to effectively deliver training and support trainers during course delivery.
- Openness to feedback and ability to incorporate suggestions into training materials.
- Proficiency in maintaining and updating reference materials.
