The Design Technician is responsible to collect, analyze and organize basic engineering data. The Design Technician will then use the Engineering data to develop design layouts and all engineering documentation required for submission of completed functional design drawings by deadline. This opportunity is with our Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Design Turnkey Team.

This role currently provides the opportunity to work remotely, but may require occasional in-person meetings at our office in Vaughan.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Liaison with project coordinators and facilitators to provide quality drawings
Develop, create, recommend, design new drawings and standardize it for multi-site application
Include fix/edit in existing drawing to conform to the company's current acceptable design standards
Create CAD drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale, suitably detailed to convey the necessary information required for approval
Check and correct any mistakes within the drawings and complete drawings within prescribed time limit
Create new and innovative methods to improve the quality of company's drawings and the drawing process
Interface with third party organizations as required
Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
Civil Engineering or Electrical or Architectural Technology diploma is preferred
1 - 2 years' experience in civil engineering environment and field experience is an asset
1 - 2 years in FTTH or a related field of telecommunications is an asset
Experience using or producing Municipal Engineering Drawings would be an asset
Telecommunications Experience, MS Visio, Auto-Cad, Utility Design, QGIS an asset
Must be Proficient with AutoCAD Version 2004 or higher
Familiar with CSA standards, specifically CSA 22.3
Comfortable using Paper Space / Model Space
Able to read site drawings
Have experience digitizing plans
Follow standard drawing and printing procedures as set out by the client
Abilities in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines
