Duration: 12-18 months contract with possibility of extension

Location of Work: Waterloo. ON

Hybrid-In office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with the option to work virtually on Mondays and Fridays

Job Description:

The opportunity:

As a member of Client's Corporate Accounting team, you will take a lead role in preparing timely and accurate management and operational financial reports. This will include recording and analyzing the company expense related to employees in the company GL and account reconciliations. You will also assist in ensuring standard processes are properly documented and functioning as expected. You will identify areas for process improvement and be involved with integration project teams based on your experience. You may also be called upon to work on special projects throughout the year.

As a Sr. Corporate Accountant, you will:

  • Prepare payroll journal entries to record the company expense related to employees into the company GL
  • Prepare corporate accruals related to employees into the company GL
  • Analyze month over month and quarter over quarter variances of relevant payroll accounts and prepare commentary for management reporting purposes
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations with an understanding as to the underlying detail.
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are up to date, easy to understand and that historical items are cleared in a timely manner.
  • Develop close working relationships with cross functional teams.
  • Act as SME for Corporate Accounting on integration project teams.
  • Act as a mentor to new team members.
  • Complete other special projects and identify areas for improvement as required.

What it takes:

  • 5-8 years of related experience with solid US GAAP/ accounting knowledge
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes is an asset.
  • Computer literate with high proficiency in MS Office applications - Excel is required.
  • Experience in SAP is required
  • Bachelor's or College degree in Accounting (CPA is preferred)
