Marathon Underground has an immediate opening for a Full Time Drillers Assistant. Previous Field Experience as a Drillers Assistant is critical to this role.
The Drillers Assistant is responsible for assisting with all field operations and general site duties to assist operators and crew with equipment to drive various types of steel pilings into the ground for use as foundation support for buildings and other structures. The labourer will operate small and medium sized equipment, review construction tasks, evaluates site conditions, anticipates and solves potential site issues and assures standards of safety and quality are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining the timeline of the project schedule. The Drillers Assistant is responsible for the safe operation of their assigned piece of equipment and ensuring safety of themselves and other workers around them.
Key Duties
Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Drillers Assistant
Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in exposed weather conditions
Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs, unassisted
Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with Marathon's safe work practices, policies and procedures
Capable of working under numerous and varied job site situations (ex: busy sites)
Ability to identify hazards, complete FLHA's and implement safe controls for tasks
Must report all incidents, near misses and equipment damage to site supervision
Operating and maintaining hand tools
Traffic control
General equipment maintenance & completing maintenance logs
Participating in all safety meetings and toolbox talks
Any previous equipment experience is an asset (skid-steer, packer, loader, etc.)
Assist with other duties as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of previous experience working as a Drillers Assistant
Valid Class 5 driver's license (clean abstract) with own transportation
Valid CSTS-2020
Valid WHMIS 2015 certification
First Aid considered an asset
May be required to perform a drug and alcohol test for pre project access or post-incident
Experience with various power tools, shovels, and other construction equipment
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Valid Ground Disturbance considered an asset
Working Conditions
Overtime as required
Must be able to travel out of town and accommodate last minute scheduling
