Position Overview

Our client is a highly successful Canadian Asset Management firm with an expansive global and national platform. The firm invests in a variety of long-lived asset classes held through a growing portfolio of private funds and operating public listed entities.

Currently, the firm is seeking a Director to join their growing Human Resources function. Reporting to the Group Head, this role will be part of a lean team focused on delivering practical and commercial HR advice and support. The successful candidate will be accountable for both leading local strategic and operational activities and delivering global initiatives focused around compensation and OD. The ideal candidate will have a natural penchant for rolling up their sleeves and providing solutions-oriented support to client groups while being strategic in their thinking. They will be comfortable handling and leveraging data to support business decision making. Exposure to a capital markets or investment environment is an asset.

Role Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR business partner under a generalist to business groups with a strong focus on development and supporting team members on job enrichment and expansion
  • Lead the global execution on efforts related to performance management, compensation including fund carried interest plans, and organizational design and planning including headcount forecasting and reporting
  • Partner with business leaders to meet business growth, including talent forecasting, defining roles, talent attraction strategy, interviewing and selection, and ensuring a positive welcome and integration of new team members
  • Support and drive the Annual Talent Cycle including coordination and communication of goal setting, performance discussions, talent assessment, compensation, and promotions
  • Facilitate the embedment of diversity, inclusion, and engagement in our talent development and talent attraction strategies
  • Work with client groups and leaders to facilitate upward development and retention of our team members
  • Participate and take an active leadership role in developing HR programs, globally and locally
  • Participate in developing goals to meet business needs, recommend new approaches, review, revise and communicate policies and programs to support continuous improvement

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience as a Human Resources Business Partner in a global, matrixed, and fast paced environment
  • Bachelor degree; certifications and course work in specific area of HR expertise preferred
  • Working knowledge of HR and employee relations best practices
  • Experience working across various HR disciplines including leading and delivering complex projects
  • Experience working with and supporting Asset Management and/or Financial Services client groups is desirable
  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience using a HRIS, Workday preferred
