Our client, a growing and dynamic organization based in the Fraser Valley, is seeking a skilled and strategic HR professional to step into the role of LR & HR Manager. This is a pivotal onsite position supporting a workforce of employees in a unionized, operational environment.
In this leadership role, you will serve as the primary HR contact for a major Canadian site, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a champion for the employee experience. You'll be responsible for all facets of people operations - from labor relations and contract negotiations to performance management, compliance, and workforce planning.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments, and brings a mix of strategic thinking and hands-on HR expertise, particularly in union settings. You'll be leading a small HR team and working cross-functionally across operations, production, and senior leadership to ensure a positive, solutions-driven workplace culture.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the lead advisor on labor relations matters including collective bargaining, grievance resolution, and discipline.
- Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders at all levels, from the shop floor to the executive suite.
- Oversee the full scope of HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, payroll coordination, and policy administration.
- Lead investigations and manage complex employee relations issues with discretion and integrity.
- Champion data-informed HR practices, ensuring HR systems are optimized and utilized effectively.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to a team of HR professionals, fostering continuous development and engagement.
- Participate in key regional HR projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong foundation in employee and labor relations.
- Demonstrated success negotiating and managing collective agreements, ideally in a large or complex operational setting.
- Previous experience managing direct reports and leading HR in a unionized environment.
- A collaborative, servant-leader approach that promotes trust, transparency, and accountability.
- A solid understanding of HR systems and comfort navigating multiple platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of professionalism and emotional intelligence.
