THE OPPORTUNITY

RECRUITMENT & EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the Recruitment and Employment Specialist provides support to the overall talent acquisition process. It is responsible for the coordination of the recruitment process; conducting interviews; and onboarding of new employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in and/or leads the recruitment and selection process. This includes prescreening applications, conducting testing, coordination of and conducting interviews, completing reference and criminal record checks; and make recommendations for hiring.
  • Participate in recruitment activities such as career fairs, and liaises with employment agencies, schools, universities and other sources for recruiting qualified applicants; research other advertising platforms for specialized or technical positions. Coordinates practicum placements with universities/colleges and hiring orientation sessions.
  • Manages the applicant inbox and/or other applicant tracking systems ensuring applicable documents have been collected as part of the application process.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with candidates.
  • Develops and presents recruitment metrics. Prepares regular and special reports for the Manager, Employment Services and Director, Human Resources, as requested.
  • Develops external ads and postings for vacancies; posts on various websites.
  • Provides advice to the Dispatch Coordinators on technical matters or workflow processes.
  • Coordination and delivery of orientation sessions for new employees. Supports the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Monitors staffing levels/shortage in collaboration with Manager, Employment Services and Dispatch to ensure that staffing needs are addressed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a two year post-secondary program in Human Resource Management or Business Administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of related Human Resources experience in a unionized environment.
  • CHRP designation would be an asset.
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to organize and problem solve.
  • Proven conflict resolution and collaborative teamwork skills.
  • Must be proficient with computers and a variety of software with superior skills with MS Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Adobe Creative Cloud; Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, and extensive knowledge of the HRIS system Atrieve ERP.

This is a full-time temporary position for a two-year term, effective July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027. COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $82,058 - $102,572 plus an excellent benefits package.
