THE COMPANY

Our client, one of the largest commercial REITS in Canada. The company's national portfolio consists of industrial, retail and office properties in both Canada and the USA.

THE ROLE

The primary purpose of this position is to provide preventative maintenance and ongoing repairs for a mix of retail, industrial and office buildings and to respond to tenant requests and maintenance concerns in a timely fashion.

WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • Responsible for the appearance of the property and for the safety and convenience of the occupants at all times.
  • Ensure building standards and efficiency are maintained or enhanced.
  • Monitor and complete daily work orders ensuring they are done to company standards.
  • Perform minor repairs including basic plumbing, electrical and general maintenance/carpentry.
  • Respond to tenant requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure assigned daily mechanical and utility readings are completed and report any problems promptly.
  • Coordinate and dispatch the preventative maintenance and ensure all maintenance is done in a timely manner.
  • Foster good tenant relations.
  • Complete visual inspections of the premises, including common areas and vacancies.
  • Provide after-hours coverage on an on-call rotation.
  • Basic diagnosis of compressors, air separators, and pumps.
  • Basic diagnosis of repair roof top units (industrial / retail), boilers and main air handling units (supply / return).

WHO YOU ARE

  • 1 to 2 years of directly related industry experience is preferred. Would consider someone from the trades.
  • Experience in minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical, dry walling, painting etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent time management and self-motivated.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively and independently.
  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to new ideas and change.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction and respond quickly to emergency situations.
