The Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Support, will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of LifeLabs' core infrastructure, including data centers, networking, systems, and cloud environments. This role is responsible for ensuring system availability, scalability, and performance across the enterprise while aligning infrastructure initiatives with business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing strategic and tactical evaluation of core infrastructure, datacentre, and network services to ensure alignment with LifeLabs' long-term business and digital transformation goals.
  • Build strong partnerships across IT and business teams to capture and translate technical requirements into infrastructure enhancements that improve reliability and productivity.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructure systems.
  • Manage daily operations of the infrastructure (network and data center) team to ensure responsive support, incident resolution, and high end-user satisfaction.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce corporate IT policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures in compliance with regulatory and security requirements.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and service delivery for data centre and networking technologies; manage licensing, renewals, contracts, and associated budgets.
  • Lead the planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Promote a team culture focused on service excellence, proactive issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure comprehensive performance and health monitoring of all key infrastructure components and platforms.
  • Prepare business cases and cost/benefit analyses to support infrastructure investments and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and remediate infrastructure security vulnerabilities, configuration drift, and compliance gaps.
  • Remain up to date on emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to LifeLabs' evolving infrastructure needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, Computer Science, or related discipline; Master's degree is an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure or operations leadership roles.
  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on technical experience in:
  • Data centre operations and facilities
  • Network backbone, compute (strong server side technology- LINUX and WINDOWS), and virtualization management (Virtual Machines, VMware, Citrix)
  • Storage and backup technologies
  • Disaster recovery planning and execution
  • Cloud environments (with emphasis on Azure)
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing infrastructure teams in delivering complex projects under aggressive timelines.
  • Full understanding of IT service management principles (ITIL) and tools for monitoring, incident, change, and asset management.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow talent while building a collaborative, outcomes-focused culture.
  • Experience in managing vendors, negotiating SLAs, and overseeing outsourced services or MSPs.

Required Skills

  • Technical Stack - Networking Focus
  • Network Architecture: Expert-level experience with LAN and WAN technologies, including IP routing, SD-WAN, MPLS, and hybrid network designs.
  • Firewalls & Perimeter Security: Proficiency with enterprise firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5, Cisco) including policy configuration, segmentation, NAT, and VPNs.
  • Load Balancing: Experience with load balancers such as F5, Citrix ADC, and Azure Application Gateway, including Layer 4/7 configurations and TLS termination.
  • Security Engineering: Solid understanding of IDS/IPS systems, TLS/SSL encryption protocols, and lifecycle management for certificates.
  • Traffic & Protocol Analysis: Ability to analyze network traffic at all OSI layers and interpret packet captures using tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump.
  • Routing & Switching: Strong command of enterprise routing and switching (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet), VLANs, STP, BGP/OSPF, and QoS configuration.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Experience with network monitoring tools and incident response workflows to proactively identify and resolve connectivity or performance issues.
  • Technical Stack - Data Centre Focus
  • Linux Systems Administration: In-depth experience with Red Hat, Ubuntu, and IBM AIX systems, including patching, performance tuning, and OS-level hardening.
  • Windows Server Management: Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Virtualization Platforms: Proficient with VMware vSphere/ESXi and KVM for compute provisioning, high availability, and virtualization lifecycle management.
  • Storage & Backup Solutions: Practical knowledge of enterprise storage and backup systems such as Commvault, including backup policy design and DR strategy.
  • Citrix Technologies: Experience managing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments to enable secure, high-performance remote access.
  • Cloud Integration: Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and other public cloud services for hybrid deployments and cloud readiness assessments.
  • Connectivity & Troubleshooting: Strong foundational skills in networking, VPNs, firewalls, and diagnostic tools for investigating port and IP connectivity issues.
  • Automation & Scripting: Familiarity with Bash, Python, and infrastructure automation/configuration tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
