The Opportunity:
Our client, a fast-growing and operationally active mining company, is seeking an experienced Exploration Manager to lead and execute exploration programs across multiple assets in Northern Ontario. This is a site-based leadership role, reporting to the Vice President of Exploration, and is ideal for a geoscientist with strong underground and open pit experience who thrives in a dynamic, resource-driven environment.
As the Exploration Manager, you'll oversee all aspects of exploration planning and execution, lead a multidisciplinary technical team, and play a key role in expanding the company's resource base. You'll work closely with site operations, corporate stakeholders, and external consultants to ensure safe, efficient, and discovery-oriented exploration activities aligned with the company's growth strategy.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Leading the design, execution, and monitoring of exploration programs across multiple sites (underground and surface).
- Managing a team of geologists, technicians, and contractors to deliver high-quality geological data and interpretations.
- Overseeing drill program planning, implementation, and budget management.
- Collaborating with site and corporate technical teams to define exploration priorities and near-mine targets.
- Ensuring QA/QC procedures are implemented and followed for all geoscientific data.
- Supporting resource modeling and estimation processes in alignment with NI 43-101 standards.
- Preparing technical reports, presentations, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing permitting, environmental considerations, and community engagement related to exploration activities.
- Championing health, safety, and environmental standards in all field operations.
- Mentoring and developing junior staff, building a strong internal talent pipeline.
What You'll Need To Be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation or eligibility in Ontario.
- 10+ years of progressive exploration experience in gold or base metals, including both underground and open pit settings.
- Strong technical skills in structural geology, geochemical/geophysical interpretation, and drill program management.
- Experience working in greenstone belts or similar Archean terrains considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate exploration teams in a site-based, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine, Vulcan) and GIS tools.
- Excellent communication skills and experience interfacing with operations, permitting, and executive teams.
- A proactive, hands-on leader who is comfortable making decisions in the field.
- Willingness to work on a rotation or site-based schedule in Northern Ontario.
