BILINGUAL MEDICAL WRITER
Our team members develop clinically-relevant, scientific content for educational and promotional materials related to pharmaceutical and biotechnology products. Team members also provide strategic consultation to clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and deliver therapeutic education and training programs to professional healthcare audiences.
Project Management Responsibilities of the Bilingual Medical Writer:
- Ensure appropriately developed project plans and timelines
- Monitor adherence to pre-defined project milestones and budget
- Track completion of project milestones
- Anticipate project delays or budget constraints and develop appropriate contingency plans
- Serve as primary communication lead with clients with oversight and guidance from senior team members
- Manage and delegate design/studio requests from the medical writing team
- Liaise with various external stakeholders, including clients, clinicians
Writing Responsibilities of the Bilingual Medical Writer:
- Ensure appropriately focused project-based research
- Select supporting scientific literature appropriate for consideration by regulatory agencies and client review
- Critically appraise medical literature by applying the concepts of evidence-based medicine
- Accurately select, summarize and report clinical data and supporting statistics
- Efficiently develop scientific content, following a defined process
- Effectively tailor content and style to a variety of audiences, including pharmaceutical representatives, healthcare professionals, academic researchers and patients
- Use a reference database (e.g., Endnote) to manage literature and indicate primary information sources
- Assemble, organize, and highlight sources of information for internal and regulatory review
- Collaborate with the development team throughout a project life-span
Language-specific Requirements
- Communication with clients, clinicians and vendors in both French and English
- Generating reports and scientific content in both French and English
- Verification of content translations and use of culturally-appropriate language
Essential Skills:
- Fluent in both French and English, with strong oral and written communication skills
- 1-4 years of experience within Medical Communications field
- Graduate degree in Life Sciences, preferably PhD, in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Self-starter and team player
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with searching online medical literature databases (ie, PubMed, Embase, etc)
- Knowledge of Reference Management software
- Familiarity with good publication practices and supporting guidelines (eg, GPP, CONSORT, PRISMA, etc.)
