Job Title: Membership Services Director

Location: Midwives Association of BC (MABC)

Reports to: Executive Director

Direct Reports: 3-4 positions

Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000

The Midwives Association of British Columbia (MABC) is the professional non-profit association representing midwives in BC. The Association works to sustain the midwifery profession through advocacy, the ongoing development and enhancement of its service, and positioning midwives as primary care providers.

The MABC works with its 400+ members to support the profession to meet the highest level of perinatal and sexual health care, through access to education and resources to improve and sustain midwifery services.

Job Summary

The Membership Services Director is a collaborative and strategic leadership role focused on strengthening member engagement and delivering inclusive, equitable programs across the province. This role ensures the voices, experiences, and priorities of midwives are centred in all services and supports offered by MABC. The Director leads a high-performing team and works in partnership with the Indigenous Midwives Council of BC (IMCBC), fostering culturally safe, community-rooted approaches to program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day programs and services for a growing membership and ensure timely, professional, and equitable program support and delivery.

Provide strategic and operational leadership as a member of MABC's leadership team, fostering a respectful, collaborative, and strengths-based culture; support inclusive workforce planning, mentor direct reports, and contribute to cross-organizational planning and capacity-building.

Manage member benefit programs and explore opportunities to expand value.

Support role clarity across membership by clearly communicating benefits, responsibilities, and engagement pathways.

Establish and maintain operational policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services to members.

Regularly monitor operational processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

Implement changes to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and enhance service quality.

Coordinate logistics and technology infrastructure to support the operations of member programs effectively.

Serve as primary liaison for member inquiries, issues, and feedback.

Develop and implement strategies to grow and retain membership.

Maintain accurate membership records in the association's CRM/database.

Generate reports, analyze data, and track KPIs related to membership.

Collaborate with the communications team to coordinate regular communication to the membership

Represent member interests in strategic planning discussions.

Manage departmental budget and report on resource allocation.

Partner with internal teams to align member engagement with broader organizational goals.

Main Qualifications

A post-secondary degree or a combination of formal education, professional experience, and/or lived expertise in program leadership, healthcare, or community engagement.

At least 6-7 years of progressive leadership experience, including staff supervision, in member engagement or program management, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit settings.

Demonstrated success designing and delivering inclusive programs that reflect diverse voices and needs, including Indigenous and rural communities.

Demonstrated analytical and data-informed decision-making skills, including the ability to interpret trends and align insights with strategic priorities.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to foster trust and collaboration across diverse teams and communities.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on member satisfaction.

Working knowledge of budget management, evaluation methods, and strategic planning.

Deep understanding of and commitment to decolonizing practices, reconciliation, and anti-racism in a healthcare or nonprofit context.

Knowledge of midwifery and BC's healthcare system is considered a strong asset.
