In late 2021, Mutual Fire Insurance created two employee driven committees, an ESG Committee and a Purpose Committee. Today these committees are creating the framework and policy for Mutual Fire Insurance to work towards sustainability within our communities, while also ensuring environmental, social, and governance mandates are accomplished.

The Opportunity

This is a full time permanent role. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and resolving auto claims.

Responsibilities

- Handle auto claims by telephone from first notice of loss

- Review insurance policy and coverages

- Investigate automobile claims to determine extent of damage and verify loss information

- Support customer claims from start to finish and arrange towing, set up appraisals, rental vehicles, and make payments as necessary

- Investigate and evaluate claims of first party automobile claims and third party property damage claims

- Manage claims and collaborate with our in-house appraiser

- Review and analyze losses to ensure and determine proper kind of loss

- Maintain adequate reserves based on exposure and authority level

- Awareness of litigation regulations

- Processing payments, recoveries and reserve changes within authority level as per claims handling standards.

Here's what you bring

- Post-secondary education completion

- 1-2 years prior auto claims handling experience coupled with 2-3 years customer service experience

- Demonstration of clear and professional written and verbal communication

- Desire to learn and self-improve

- Desire to excel in exceeding customer service experience thresholds

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

- Understanding of subrogation claims is an asset.

- Understanding of the salvage process is an asset.

- CIP designation preferred

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Proficient in MS Office suite

- Excellent organizational skills
