Join Our Team: Instructor Therapist/Teacher at Second Nature School (Ottawa, ON)

About Second Nature

Second Nature School is more than a school - it's a sanctuary. Rooted in neuro-affirming values, our elementary-level therapeutic program supports children in discovering their own rhythm, brilliance, and voice. We offer a child-led, nature-inspired, exploratory curriculum within a trauma-informed, low-demand, and deeply therapeutic environment.

Our team is united by a shared belief: children do well when they are understood. And healing happens when we meet them exactly where they are.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate, flexible, and heart-led Instructor Therapist/Teacher to join us in co-creating safe, meaningful learning experiences for our students. This is an on-site, contract position located in Ottawa, ON.

As part of a collaborative team, you will:

  • Implement individualized, strengths-based educational and therapeutic programming
  • Conduct observations and create responsive, dynamic lesson plans
  • Deliver evidence-informed interventions rooted in regulation, connection, and relationship
  • Monitor each child's progress with curiosity and compassion - not pressure
  • Work closely with our Learning Program Manager and School Administrator to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain clear and respectful communication with families
  • Keep accurate records and contribute to our collective commitment to transparency and integrity

What You Bring

  • A belief in the inherent worth and capability of every child
  • Proficiency in individualized education plans and therapeutic strategies
  • Experience conducting observations and crafting lesson plans that follow a child's lead
  • Familiarity with neurodiversity, trauma-informed approaches, and low-demand learning models
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • A degree or certification in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Prior experience working with neurodivergent children or those with developmental needs is an asset
  • A willingness to work on-site in Ottawa and get your boots a little muddy

Why Join Us

  • A competitive benefits package that supports your health and wellbeing
  • Access to individualized career coaching and mentorship to support your professional growth
  • A supportive, values-driven team where your voice and experiences are welcomed
  • A chance to truly make a difference in the lives of children and families - every single day

Ready to make a difference - gently, boldly, and with purpose?

We'd love to meet you.
