Position Title: Desktop Support Engineer

Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada

6 month Contract Opportunity - July - December 2025 (extendable)

Position Summary

We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Desktop Support Engineer to join our client's team onsite in Markham. This role plays a key part in supporting end users during the transition to Windows 11, ensuring a seamless experience and resolving any technical challenges that may arise.

Primary Responsibilities

  • User Assistance: Deliver frontline technical support to users encountering issues after the Windows 11 rollout.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on desktops and related systems.
  • System Setup: Support the deployment, configuration, and upkeep of Windows 11 on user devices.
  • Record Keeping: Document support activities, technical issues, and resolutions in a clear and organized manner.
  • User Training: Provide guidance and training sessions to help users navigate new Windows 11 features.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with IT colleagues and other departments to ensure consistent and effective support.
  • System Maintenance: Perform updates and manage system upgrades to maintain optimal performance.
  • Feedback & Improvement: Collect user feedback to enhance support processes and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in desktop support, with a strong understanding of Windows environments, especially Windows 11.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid skills in diagnosing and resolving hardware/software issues, and configuring operating systems.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer Focus: Committed to delivering excellent user support and service.
  • Analytical Skills: Capable of assessing problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Team Player: Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
