Reporting to the Head of Studio, the VFX Supervisor is the creative lead on projects and the primary point of contact for clients. They are responsible for maintaining the visual quality and consistency of all deliverables, ensuring alignment with client expectations. This role oversees the artistic output of the team, collaborates closely with production to manage scope and schedule, and provides clear direction based on client feedback. The VFX Supervisor plays a key role in client meetings and works with the VFX Producer to build strong, productive relationships that support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creative execution of all VFX shots from initial concept through final delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with the VFX Producer and Production Manager to develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Partner with 2D and CG Supervisors to ensure consistency with the show's aesthetic and technical goals.
  • Interpret client vision, provide creative solutions, and build strong relationships with directors, producers, and external supervisors.
  • Supervise the integration of 3D, 2D, and live-action elements to ensure seamless final results.
  • Approve and present final work to clients, ensuring deliverables meet the highest creative and technical standards.
  • Attend dailies, production meetings, and set shoots as required to oversee VFX capture and ensure critical data is collected.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to artists and technical teams.
  • Support clear and efficient communication between all internal and external stakeholders.

  • A demo reel highlighting work in VFX, live-action episodic, and/or commercials (required for all creative positions).

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in visual effects, with at least 7+ years as a VFX Supervisor.
  • Deep understanding of on-set production processes, post-production workflows, and VFX pipelines.
  • Expert proficiency in Nuke, with working knowledge of Maya, Houdini, and industry-standard tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with ShotGrid (Flow) for production tracking.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting, color theory, composition, and cinematography principles.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining creative and technical integrity.
  • Legal authorization to work for any studio in Canada and be a resident of Ontario as of December 31, 2024-ideally based in Toronto. Please note that closed work permits are not eligible for this opportunity.
  • Hybrid/Remote work is restricted to Ontario residents only.
