About the Role
Connex is looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to drive product vision and roadmap alignment, enabling us to enhance the user experience and optimize product value. This role is integral to managing and prioritizing the product backlog, collaborating closely with senior management, and working within Agile frameworks to ensure effective product delivery. This is a contractual position that requires a hybrid work arrangement, with onsite presence twice a week at our Downtown Toronto office.
Responsibilities
- Product Management & Vision Alignment (30%)
- Partner with management to support and communicate the product vision, aligning it with strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain a prioritized product backlog, focusing on user stories that maximize end-user value.
- Align the product roadmap with Minimum Marketable Features (MMF) and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) standards, working closely with senior management to set release cadence.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration (25%)
- Engage stakeholders across business and technical teams to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure product features align with user needs.
- Act as the primary escalation point for the development team, providing clear guidance and decisions to optimize delivery.
- Communicate product changes, enhancements, and roadmap updates effectively to both technical teams and senior leadership.
- Agile Development & Continuous Improvement (20%)
- Lead and participate in Agile events, such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and planning sessions, to ensure smooth delivery and continuous improvement.
- Create, design, and review user stories, ensuring they meet Definition of Done (DoD) and Acceptance Criteria before acceptance.
- Manage the product backlog, continuously prioritizing and refining based on team and stakeholder feedback.
- Performance Analysis & Product Strategy (15%)
- Monitor product performance metrics and user feedback, recommending strategies to enhance the customer experience and product efficiency.
- Regularly review analytics and performance reports to refine product strategy and advocate for improvements.
- Lead Quarterly Business Review (QBR) sessions to report on product performance and adjust strategy as needed.
- Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance (10%)
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements that could impact the product strategy.
- Engage in risk assessment and quality management, coordinating with business and technical teams to ensure product compliance and mitigate risks.
Qualifications
- Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or product management certification.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including 4+ years as a Product Owner or related Agile delivery role.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in backlog management, user story design, and Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
- Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or operating within a scaled Agile environment.
- Familiarity with product analytics tools and performance metrics.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities effectively.
