Purpose of the role:

The Social Director manages a team usually composed of three levels of employment:

- Supervisors - Supervisors or Associate Directors

- Senior Managers and Managers

- Assistants

The Social Director is expected to establish tactical direction for client's business objectives, understand all aspects of the marketplace, and manage/oversee the team's day to day paid search executions. Although the role is focused on paid social it is expected that the candidate has a high-level understanding of the total digital ecosystem and the roles each of the digital platforms play in the daily lives of consumers. Key to this role is having a strong understanding of paid social fundamentals, ad serving and tagging technology, data analysis and presentation background and bring performance results to PHD clients through strong marketplace partnerships, execution and optimization. It is critical for the Director to be self-sufficient in aligning the communications objectives with the development of a holistic digital strategy, conveying the strategy to clients and agency teams and facilitating direction amongst the team to effectively execute, analyze and optimize to maximize results.

Ultimately leading a team and providing analysis that informs and improves the effectiveness of the planning, execution and optimization of marketing strategy. You will tie the optimization metrics to the strategic intent of campaigns and the underlying business objectives.

The Role & Expectations

Client Engagement:

  • Lead multiple client social portfolios for channel expertise with close collaboration of cross functional teams.
  • Lead high level strategic Paid Social conversations for various clients.
  • Manage implementation of training and best practises to peers and members of the team.
  • Proactively identify and discuss technology/advancements and platform opportunities for improvement.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Ensure active voice within cross functional collaboration.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues to ensure clear understanding of the overarching, high level business objectives.
  • Be able to effectively communicate and teach processes and best practises to peers and members of the team.
  • Exhibits solid communication skills in order to effectively present strategic and tactical plans to clients and internal teams
  • Continuously push practice and process forward for future ready solution. Including proactively identifying technology/advancements for improvement.

Accountability:

  • Accountability for overall quality assurance across all accounts including data, billing and reporting accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently push the status quo and deliver thought-leadership, for both the team and company alike.
  • Displays organizational capabilities to track progress, execution and consistency of Paid Social advertising campaigns across client portfolio
  • Contribute to corporate mandates and education of all staff, including writing POV's, creating presentations, and sharing industry news.

Financial Management:

  • Lead a team to manage campaign budget pacing across multiple client portfolios
  • Provides guidance for clients that allows them to be efficient with their media dollars across channels.
  • Lead analysing and co-ordinate closing billing estimates with team

People Management:

  • Build and maintain motivation within team; create development plans for junior staff.
  • Consistently mentors and coaches junior colleagues in their development, including managing, carrying-out and presenting compelling plans and approaches.
  • Train team members on responsibilities and best practises. Mentor more junior staff in increasing knowledge base across planning, reporting, and optimizing campaigns.
  • Have strong program management and organizational skills being able to manage team members working on multiple projects at once
  • Maintain and advance partner relationships with sister agencies and vendors

Leadership:

  • Participate in core company initiatives and industry events.
  • Exhibits responsibility for overall quality assurance across all accounts including data and reporting accuracy.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance with team members.
  • Demonstrate core company values on a day to day basis.

Media/Business Acumen:

  • Expertise with Paid Social strategy and implementation
  • Possesses understanding of Paid Social advertising campaign management and optimization practices that can help clients meet their business goals
  • Lead in developing paid search capabilities within the agency and with existing clients.
  • Possesses well developed analytical ability to extract insight from data and plan next steps across multiple marketing mediums
  • Understanding of broader media planning and buying - to ensure integration / coordination with wider media objectives occur
  • Understanding of post-click tracking through the use of pixels or Google Analytics
  • Facebook Blueprint certification is a plus

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer analysis to gain marketing business insights.
  • Develop and create key reporting approaches.
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop pre-project measurement plans and post-mortem project analysis in order to develop specific and actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrates strategic insight to develop long term execution plans from client's stated business objectives and lead the implementation of those plans
  • Work with performance analysts to analyze primary and secondary data to develop data-driven marketing strategies for different target groups of consumers.
  • Lead a team responsible for compiling data across Paid Search platforms including analysis for insights, optimizations and future strategy development
  • Analyse the competitive environment and industry trends to determine opportunities for research activities.
  • Oversee training and mentoring of Associate Directors, Supervisors, Managers and Assistants
  • Present strategy and performance to clients explaining rationale and key insights
  • Oversee campaign budget pacing across client portfolio
  • Lead teams developing target interest groups following PHD and client-specific best practices
  • Perform thorough quality checks to ensure accuracy of set up across team
  • Oversee campaign billing information into Prisma billing system and assist in input when needed
  • Monitor client, competitor and industry changes
  • Support ad-hoc data requests for forecasting, billing, promotional performance, etc.
  • Utilize campaign management tools to execute campaigns and improve overall performance
  • Build and maintain productive working partnerships with vendors, client teams, and agency partners/teams.
  • Involved in moving corporate initiatives forward and putting into practice with day to day leads.
  • Contribute in Senior Management discussions and initiatives.
