Eastgate Academy is the preeminent International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in the Greater Moncton area. We are the first Primary Years Program (PYP) authorized by the International Baccalaureate in the Maritimes. We are excited about our continued growth and positive momentum as we prepare to move into our new purpose-built facility.
We are hiring a full-time educator to work within our Primary Years Program (PYP).
Prior IB training and/or experience in an IB World School is an asset, and priority will be given to candidates with recognized teaching certification from a Canadian province. Qualified candidates will have a facility with differentiation, inquiry-based practices, as well as personalized and experiential approaches to teaching and learning.
Responsibilities
- Foster a safe and positive learning environment for all students
- Teach a mixed-age primary years (Ex: K to 1, or 2 to 4) cohort using a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based, and conceptual approach
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement a programme of inquiry, including unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments based on the British Columbia (BC) curriculum and the IB approaches to teaching and learning
- Provide ongoing feedback to students and parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Document planning, implementing, learning, and evidencing of learning
- Monitor and support student academic, co-curricular, and personal growth through a high level of pastoral care
- Engage in continuous professional learning
Qualifications and skills:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Education degree or the equivalent preferred
- Should have, or be eligible to obtain, a teaching certificate from a Canadian province
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English; facility in French an asset
- Knowledge of inquiry-based and student-centred learning
- Experience in early years/kindergarten and play-based learning
- Experience teaching in Canadian and/or international schools
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational, communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills
